Bishop BW

If you can't climb hard climb high. But it doesn't matter when it's so pretty and you have good beer and food.

Bishop California

I took the opportunity to visit Bishop at the end of March this year. Patrick and I drove over from Davis through Tahoe and stayed for 4 days. Maybe next year I'll be able to go back and stay for longer. We camped at the Buttermilks every night, and climbed there every day until the last when we visited the Happys. The climbing at the Happys may be more 'fun,' but the Buttermilks are just unbeatable for location and atmosphere. Every day we would wake up to the desert chill, make coffee and breakfast, and as the sun fully cleared the ridge of the White mountains the temperature would jump to perfect. We would boulder until mid-day, and take a lunch siesta by the creek in the shade to avoid burning my delicate Seattle tanned skin. As the evening came on we could go back out to work on whatever projects we had been unable to get in the morning.  As the sun sets over Mt. Tom, a rush of wind pours down the mountain and it's time to huddle up for dinner in the lee of the car. Drink a beer, read a book.

I finagled an extra day into the trip by flying out of SFO early Monday morning, in order to see all my friends in San Francisco. In the midst of a hectic lazy Sunday, they managed to host a BBQ after taking part in the annual Bring Your Own Big Wheel race. I should've taken more pictures of the day, but it is what it is.

Welcome back to Seattle.
